About ShakeAlert® Ready CERT

ShakeAlert Ready CERT empowers local service volunteers—Community Emergency Response Teams—with training on earthquake science, earthquake early warning, and protective actions. CERT members support emergency management and response efforts in communities, and are vital safety ambassadors who educate the public about the importance of hazard preparedness, including for earthquakes.

ShakeAlert Ready CERT resources are designed to be modular to reflect local environments and include practical steps, while maintaining scientific integrity. These resources can be used with CERT volunteer training, community events, and outreach exhibits. Training resources have been vetted by several cohorts of CERTs and will continue to evolve to reflect best practices in earthquake safety.
